TNT gets new import, coaching consultant
Don’t be surprised to see a new-look TNT KaTropa when they plunge back into action at the resumption of the PBA Governors’ Cup.
TNT has reportedly tapped Marqus Blakely, the 2013 Governors’ Cup Best Import and two-time PBA champion during his previous stints with the Purefoods franchise, to be its third import in the season-ending conference.
Blakely, who last saw action for the Hotshots in 2016, is the KaTropa’s latest reinforcement after Mike Glover and Stacy Davis.
ESPN5’s Carlo Pamintuan was first to report on Blakely joining TNT.
Apart from Blakely, TNT also reportedly hired Mark Dickel as consultant, as per Tiebreaker Times’ Matthew Li.
Dickel’s appointment came on the heels of the team’s decision to put head coach Nash Racela on leave after a 1-4 start.
Dickel is a two-time Kiwi Olympian who played under Tab Baldwin.
TNT, which is currently in eighth place with a 2-4 mark, hopes to turn its fortunes around against Rain or Shine on September 22 in Iloilo.
