President Rodrigo Duterte threw in another extra P2 million to gold medalists in the Asian Games during the release of incentives Wednesday at Malacanang Palace, according to the PSC media arm.

The PSC had announced earlier that the bonus from the President would be worth P1 million but Mr. Duterte upped it by another million after Wednesday’s ceremonies.

The cash pot is on top of the P2 million granted by law via RA 10699. Gold medalists shall therefore receive 4 million in total from the Philippine government.

They will also get P1 million each from Siklab Foundation of Sec. Dennis Uy and Ambassador to Indonesia H.E. Lee Hiong Tan Wee, and a P2 million bonus from the Philippine Olympic Committee.
