FCVBA veterans crush hosts, reach Asean hoops semifinals

HAT YAI, Thailand—The 60s of the Filipino-Chinese Veterans Basketball Association (FCVBA) rolled to their second straight win by crushing Hat Yai-B, 73-42, to advance to the semifinals of the 27th Asean Basketball Veterans Tournament Tuesday at Prince Songkla University gym here.

Former PBA star Elmer Reyes struck hardest for the 60s with 26 points while ex-La Salle star Kenneth Yap and Danny Ching combined for 24 points.

The Edster Sy-mentored FCVBA will go for a sweep when it battles Miri of Malaysia on Wednesday.

Backed by Rain or Shine’s Terry Que, Freego’s Eduard Tio and Ironcon’s Jimi Lim, the 65s are also bidding for a sweep of their group elimination round when take on the Malaysians from Miri.

Also contributing for the 60s were Andrew Ongteco, Aries Franco, Elmer Latonio, Jose Go, and Ramon Mabanta.

The 60s are gunning for a fourth straight title in the annual tournament while 65s are eyeing a three-peat.
