MANILA, Philippines—Adamson streaked to its sixth straight win by outlasting La Salle, 67-66, while University of Santo Tomas finally barged into the win column of the FCBL Dickies Cup at the Philippine Buddhacare gym in Quezon City over the weekend.
Mary Penaranda topscored for the Lady Falcons with 16 points but it was Jinky Balasta who nailed the game-winning shot.
Balasta had 10 points, six assists, three steals and two rebounds to earn her first Dickies Underwear Player of the Game award.
The Lady Falcons bolstered their bid to clinch the top spot in the quarterfinals where the top four after the elimination will gain a twice-to-beat advantage.
La Salle fell to 4-2, the same record of UAAP champion Far Eastern U and Centro Escolar U in the event also backed by Smart, Mang Inasal, Home Depot and Powerhouse.
UST tripped Ateneo, 74-70, to snap a five-game losing run while Lyceum improved to 3-3 by downing University of the East, 50-36.
