NCAA: Lyceum zooms to 12-0, blasts EAC

Lyceum maintained its immaculate record after clobbering Emilio Aguinaldo College, 95-75, for its 12th straight win in the NCAA Season 94 men’s basketball tournament Thursday at Filoil Flying V Centre.

The Pirates pulled away in the fourth quarter after letting the General, who absorbed their ninth loss against two wins, hang around and trail by just 61-54 after three quarters.

Spencer Preta stretched Pirates’ lead to 72-61 after a three before Marcelino twins took over in  the fourth quarter.

Jaycee and Jayvee scored four points each in the Pirates’ 8-0 run that gave them a commanding 89-69 lead with 1:26 left in the game.

Pirates head coach Topex Robinson said he wasn’t worried that the Generals were within striking distance with one quarter left to play.

“I think that’s something we’re not surprised about but what’s important to us is we should sustain our effort for 48 minutes,” said Robinson. “We should have discipline both in the offensive and defensive end.”

CJ Perez led the Pirates’ offense with 19 points and five rebounds while Nzesseu had 18 points and seven boards.

Jaycee had 15 points, seven assists, and four steals for the Pirates while Ralph Tansingco and Jayvee added 11 and 10 points, respectively.

Jerome Garcia lit up for a game-high 30 points while grabbing nine rebounds for the Generals.
