The UAAP has also canceled its men’s basketball games set for Sunday due to the effects of typhoon “Ompong.”

UAAP Season 81 president Nilo Ocampo said in a statement Saturday that the league also decided to suspend the rest of the weekend’s games as “Ompong” continued to batter Metro Manila and North Luzon.

The games between University of the East against National University at 2pm and University of Santo Tomas against University of the Philippines at 4pm were initially scheduled at Filoil Flying V Centre.

Saturday’s matchups schedule also scrapped.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration spotted “Ompong,” which has since been downgraded to a typhoon from a super typhoon, at 65 kilometers west of Laoag, Ilocos Norte as of 12 pm.

Public storm signal no.1 is still raised over Metro Manila.
