Jerry Codiñera resigns as Arellano head coach

Jerry Codiñera has resigned from his post as the head coach of Arellano University’s men’s basketball team, the school announced on Thursday.

Junjie Aban will be taking over the head coaching duties on an interim capacity for the remainder of the Chiefs’ campaign in  Season 94.

Codiñera was the architect of the most fruitful seasons Arellano had in its nine-year stay in the NCAA.

The former PBA great led the Chiefs to runner-up finishes in Season 90, his first with Arellano, and Season 92 with both years ending in title losses to San Beda.

Codiñera tallied a cumulative 52-41 record as the Chiefs’ head mentor.

The Chiefs, though, have been inconsistent so far in Season 94, sitting at the sixth seed with a 4-7 record.
