NCAA: Eze buzzer-beater ends Lyceum’s perfect run
It may have been just a tip-in, but Prince Eze’s shot reverberated across records.
Eze hit the game-winning buzzer-beater to lift University of Perpetual Help to a 83-81 win that ended Lyceum’s unbeaten run in the NCAA Season 94 men’s basketball tournament.
Article continues after this advertisementThe Altas’ win didn’t do much to improve their standings as they stayed at the fifth seed with a 7-5 record, but it stopped the Pirates’ 30-game winning streak in the eliminations that stretched back to Season 93.
Eze wasn’t just on the right place at the right time for the Altas, but he was everywhere for them putting up 25 points and grabbing 23 rebounds.
Perpetual’s initial chance was an open three from Rey Peralta but he hit air on his attempt, allowin the 6-foot-11 Eze to get the rebound over the 6-foot-6 Mike Nzeusseu for the put-back.
Article continues after this advertisementEdgar Charcos also had a solid game for Perpetual with 20 points and six assists while Jeffrey Coronel and Kim Aurin combined for 21 points.
Jaycee Marcelino led the 12-1 Pirates with 16 points and five rebounds while Nzeusseu had 14 points and 10 boards.
