Rodriguez favored as Petron GT highlights Batangas racing weekend

Edwin Rodriguez sets out as the favorite to bag a pair of victories anew Sunday in the 2018 Yokohama GT class of the 2018 Petron Philippine Motorsports Championships at Batangas Racing Circuit in Rosario, Batangas.

Rodriguez paces Paulo Santos by 29 points and Santos’ father Paul by 55 at the top of the GT200 overall standings going into the final two rounds of the series.

From the first eight races, Rodriguez, the 2016 Golden Wheel GT awardee, pooled 127 points, followed by the Santos son-and-father tandem with 99 and 72, respectively, Andres Calma with 52 and Russ Agapito with 22.

Female phenom Kathy Villar (107 points) seeks to firm up her lead in the GT150 class over Agapito (100) and Lewey Manio (85), as well as in the Rookie class over the same two drivers.

Leg titles in the various Philmini, Classic Aspirated and Sparco Cup classes are also at stake with Carlos Castañeda leading the Open Pro overall derby.
