Far Eastern University banked on a strong start to dump University of the Philippines, 89-73, in the UAAP Season 81 men’s basketball tournament Sunday at Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan.

Five Tamaraws hit double-figure scoring led by a perfect offensive game from Prince Orizu, who had 15 points on 7-of-7 shooting from the field. He scored nine points in the first quarter alone.

Arvin Tolentino scored 13 off the bench and was a plus-23 while Wendell Comboy added 12 points, five rebounds and five assists for the Tamaraws.

FEU, which posted its second win in three outings, scored eight unanswered points to start the game and never trailed.

The Tamaraws, who shot 52 percent from the field, extended their lead to 24, 63-49, after Comboy sank a 3-pointer with 5:15 left in the third.

Guards Jasper Parker and Axel Iñigo chipped in 11 points to help FEU bounce back from a 76-74 loss to University of Santo Tomas on September 12.

Brothers Javi and Juan Gomez de Liano paced the Fighting Maroons, who dropped to 1-2, with 15 and 13 points, respectively while Bright Akhuetie added nine points and 11 rebounds.
