Miñoza-led Del Monte nips aussies

DAVAO—Martina Miñoza returned a two-over-par 74 worth 52 points on Saturday afternoon to lead Del Monte to a closing 148 and a three-point win over the Lady Eagles Australia golfers in the Founders Division of the 13th PAL Ladies Interclub championships at Rancho Palos Verdes here.

Miñoza had three birdies that went with five bogeys at the well-manicured layout and got superb backing from Rhea Langgamin, who accounted for 51 with the Bukidnon-based squad counting the 45 of Kiara Montebon for a 72-hole 544.

The Aussies couldn’t come close to repeating a second-round effort that had them roaring to the lead even with Kelsey Benett cracking par again with a 55.
Taylor Newlin shot 47 and Charlotte Huynh chipped in just 44 for 146.

Del Monte shared the winners’ stage with Pradera Verde, which rallied to rule the Championship Division, and Tagaytay Highlands and Bacolod Golf Club, the Sportswriters and Friendship winners, respectively.
