Jeson Patrombon advances in Israel Futures F2

Jeson Patrombon recovered from a first-set loss to oust Marko Danis of Slovakia, 3-6, 6-4, 6-2, Tuesday in the first round of the Israel Futures F2 in Eilat.

Patrombon, who made it to the main draw by winning three matches in qualifying, solved the booming shots deep into the baseline of Danis in the second and third sets to secure his second straight second-round stint in the event.

“Jeson is playing smart and mixing his backhands with deep low slices which forced Danis to go down low and use topspin on his shots,” recounted his coach Manny Tecson in an email.

Charging the net, Patrombon forged ahead for good at 5-4 in the second set then broke Danis to seal a deciding third set where the 18-year-old Filipino Cupper won four straight games for a 5-1 lead.

Patrombon will next meet third seed Antal Van der Duim of Netherlands.
