Paul Lee and Romeo Travis showed the way as Magnolia led from start to finish in a 92-76 rout of Rain or Shine in the 2018 PBA Governors’ Cup Wednesday night at Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Lee and Travis each scored 22 points with the star guard setting the tone and burly import anchoring the Hotshots’ charge in the fourth quarter.
“Credit to the players they executed our game plan very well on both ends. Everything that we did in practice, we were able to do in the game,” said Magnolia head coach Chito Victolero after guiding his team to its third victory in four games.
“I’m very proud of the team because we bounced back coming from a loss. This win is big for us because we don’t want a two-game losing streak heading into our next game against San Miguel. This is added confidence for us against San Miguel.”
Victolero commended his players for their effort and aggressiveness, the two things that were nonexistent in their 95-82 loss to Phoenix on Sunday.
Lee also had seven assists and four steals while Travis posted 16 rebounds with three steals to boot. Two more Hotshots wound up in double-digits with Ian Sangalang and PJ Simon chipping in 13 and 11 points, respectively.
J’Nathan Bullock paced the Elasto Painters with 15 points and 10 rebounds but was a game-worst minus-16.
