Meralco loses to Mono Vampire in Fiba Asia Champions Cup opener

Meralco bowed to host Mono Vampire Basketball Club, 100-92, in the opening day of the Fiba Asia Champions Cup Thursday at Stadium 29 in the Nonthaburi province of Thailand.

After getting tied up at 70 heading into the fourth, Mono Vampire immediately took control of the game with an 8-0 run on Marcus Keene’s three-pointer just 54 seconds into the period.

Mono Vampire’s early fourth quarter spurt was enough for the Thai club to put away the Bolts, who are representing the country in the club meet.

Diamond Stone led the Bolts with 23 points and eight rebounds while Allen Durham had 20 points and 18 boards.

Baser Amer also had a big game for the Bolts despite the loss with 18 points on 7-of-9 shooting from the field.

Keene had 29 points and eight assists for Mono Vampire while Michael Singletary had 25 points and 15 rebounds.
