Barangay Ginebra continued to win despite being riddled with injuries, this time beating much-improved Phoenix, 101-99, in the 2018 PBA Governors’ Cup Saturday at Xavier University Gym in Cagayan De Oro City.

The Gin Kings played minus four vital cogs including big men Greg Slaughter and Japeth Aguilar and still drew enough contributions from key mainstays Justin Brownlee, Scottie Thompson, Joe Devance and LA Tenorio to come away with their fifth victory.

Ginebra climbed to the top spot with a 5-1 slate while Phoenix slipped to fourth at 5-2.

Thompson dazzled with 12 points, 14 rebounds and six assists while Brownlee topscored with 34 that went with 15 rebounds and six assists.

Devance, who is also dealing with an injury, added 15 points while Tenorio chipped in 10 points, five assists and four steals.

Matthew Wright led the Fuel Masters with 27 points on 5-of-5 shooting from 3. Eugene Phelps also recorded a double-double with 23 points and 13 rebounds.
