Carlo Peñalosa made quick work of James Kibazange to win the WBA Asia South flyweight title on Sunday at SM North Edsa SkyDome in Quezon City.

Peñalosa, the nephew of former two-time world champion Gerry, broke Kibazange down with vicious body shots before a left to the face  decked his Tanzanian foe for good in the third round.

Peñalosa knocked Kibazange down twice, the first coming in the second round thanks to a body shot.

“I was sizing him up in the first round and in the second, I saw that he’s hurting from my body punches,” said Peñalosa, whose cousin Dave is staking his unbeaten record against Twalib Tuwa in the main event.

The 25-year-old Peñalosa improved to 13-1, 6 KOs and now sets his sights on bigger fights ahead.

”I want to fight [the top] flyweights and fight for a world title,” he said in Filipino.
