Rivero, PH team go 0-2 in day 1 of Fiba 3×3 U23 World Cup

The Philippines put up a valiant effort but came up empty in Pool C play at the start of the Fiba 3×3 U23 World Cup Wednesday at Xi’an China.

The Filipinos, bannered by promising star Ricci Rivero, dropped their first two games against Slovenia and top-ranked Serbia.

Rivero and company suffered a 21-14 decision before taking a 21-16 setback at the hands of the Serbians.

The PH team, which is also composed of former University of Santo Tomas big man Jeepy Faundo and high school standouts RJ Abarrientos and Rhayyan Amsali, goes on a break on Thursday.

The Philippines returns to action on Friday against Turkmenistan at 5 p.m. and China at 8:40 p.m.
