A pair of Filipino athletes bagged medals in their respective sports in the Indonesia 2018 Para Games held in Jakarta.

Ernie Gawilan, who won the country’s first gold medal in the multisport competition, added another gold medal to his name after ruling the men’s 100-meter backstroke S7 category Wednesday evening at GBK Aquatic Center.

Gawilan clocked in at 1:19.90 and he shared the top spot with Japan’s Daisuke Ejima.

In the women’s powerlifting, Adeline Dumapong-Ancheta took the bronze medal in the women’s over 86-kilogram category in powerlifting Thursday at Balai Sudirman.

Ancheta had a best lift of 107 kilograms that was good enough to put her in the podium.

Republic of Korea’s Lee Hyun-jung won the gold after a best lift of 118 kilograms while Indonesia’s Sriyanti Sriyanti took the silver with a best lift of also 118 kg.

But Lee claimed the gold medal because her next best lift was 115 kg, a kilogram heavier than Sriyanti next best lift.

The Philippines is tied with Hong Kong at No. 10 in the medal tally with six gold medals apiece.

The Filipinos struck hard in chess with three gold medals, with more expected as the rapid event is yet to be played.
