Motolite-Ateneo outlasted gritty Tacloban Wednesday night to score a 25-18, 19-25, 11-25, 25-17, 15-11 victory for its third straight win in the Premier Volleyball League Open Conference at Filoil Flying V Center.
Challenged by the Fighting Warays, the Lady Eagles leaned on their tried and tested system to register their fifth win in six starts.
It was the second straight five-set victory for Motolite-Ateneo, which leaned on the experienced trio of Pongay Gaston, Maddie Madayag and Kat Tolentino down the stretch to keep Tacloban from mounting a rally in the fifth set.
Later in the night, Creamline shot down BanKo Perlas, 26-24, 25-13, 25-21, in the second game to create a three-way gridlock at the top of the standings at 5-1.
