For the second straight year, the Philippines has qualified a team to the World Amateur Golfers Championship which tees off this week in Johor, Malaysia.
The team will be composed of team captain Oliver Gan, last year’s Division 1 champion Tonito Payumo, Blake Go, Vicky Herrera, Ariel Vanguardia, Ted Arcenas, Kirby Co, Antonio Pascua, Joven Papio, Eric Si, Danilo Odeste and Mark Leviste.
“We are fortunate because the recent development of events snowballed the momentum for this year’s WAGC finals,” said Leviste, referring to the recent Asian Games victory of female golfers Yuka Saso, Bianca Pagdanganan and Lois Kaye Go as well as the triumph of Angelo Que in the rich Japan circuit.
The tournament begins as a national championship around the world. It is designed to give all amateur golfers the thrill and prestige of representing their nation in a global championship. The event caters to business executives, celebrities, VIP clients, sponsors, national organizers and golf enthusiasts.
