Red Lions trip Altas; Stags triumph

On seniors night, defending champion San Beda gave Perpetual Help a glimpse of its razor-sharp form three days before their Final Four duel in NCAA Season 94 basketball tournament.

And Michael Calisaan bid the San Sebastian Stags farewell on the saddle of victory.

The Red Lions waylaid the Altas, 80-72, Tuesday at Filoil Flying V Centre, where coach Boyet Fernandez paid tribute to his graduating players.

“It was seniors’ day for us,” said Fernandez, who started with final-year stalwarts Jeramer Cabanag, Robert Bolick, Javee Mocon, Ranbill Tongco and Jomari Presbitero.

Donald Tankoua came off the bench to lead San Beda with 23 points and 10 rebounds while Cabanag provided an unlikely lift with 16 points.

Earlier, Calisaan closed out his collegiate career with 24 points and 12 rebounds as San Sebastian dumped Arellano, 91-63.

“We will miss Michael, especially his leadership” said Stags coach Egay Macaraya.

St. Benilde closed out the elimination round with an impressive 94-81 victory over Final Four-bound Letran.
