Naascu player passes away a week after shooting

A varsity basketball player from the National Athletic Association of Schools, Colleges, and Universities passed away after succumbing to gunshot wounds.

Still unidentified assailants gunned down Rutger Acidre, 24, of City University of Pasay and girlfriend Doris Sara Besana last October 24, according to Naascu.

Both were rushed to the hospital right after the incident but Besana was the first to succumb to her injuries and was pronounced dead on October 25 while Acidre passed away late October 31.

“Rutger was gunned down together with his girlfriend and both did not make it,” a statement from the league said. “Let us pray for those left behind and that justice be served.”

Acidre plays guard for the Eagles and played in five of the team’s seven games during the eliminations of the recent NAASCU season.

He is brother of former Arellano University star Rocky Acidre.
