The Philippine national women’s football team notched its second win in the 2020 Women’s Olympic Tournament Asian Qualifiers, rallying from a goal down to whip host Tajikistan, 3-1, Thursday at Hisor Central Stadium in Hisor, Tajikistan.
A report posted at the Philippine Football Federation’s website (pff.org.ph) said the Philippines fell behind in the 26th minute before UST’s Shelah Cadag came through with the equalizer four minutes later to net her fourth goal of the tournament.
La Salle’s Sara Castañeda slotted in the go-ahead goal in the 50th minute and padded the lead in the 76th from the penalty spot.
The win gave the Malditas six points and kept them second behind Chinese Taipei on goal difference.
Up next for the Philippines is Mongolia on Sunday, with qualification to the second round of the qualifiers at stake.
