Kevin Alas’ nearly year-long absence from the game of basketball may soon come to an end.
NLEX’ versatile guard is looking to get the all-clear from famed sports orthopedic Dr. Raul Canlas “by next week.”
Alas tore his anterior cruciate ligament in March of 2018 in Game 5 of the Road Warriors’ semifinals series against Magnolia in the Philippine Cup.
Alas suffered the gruesome injury just 40 seconds into the game and his absence didn’t fare well for the Road Warriors, who failed to advance to the Final round.
Alas has been slowly but surely getting back into game shape, joining NLEX practice earlier last month.
“I’ll just need to pass some tests and I’ll be medically cleared,” said Alas Friday at Smart Araneta Coliseum.
NLEX bowed out of the PBA Governors’ Cup playoffs after getting clobbered by defending champion Ginebra, 111-75.
Alas’ absence was the start of a tough stretch for the Road Warriors, who also lost Kiefer Ravena due to a doping violation during the All-Star break.
