San Beda coach Boyet Ferandez believes his prized guard Robert Bolick should be the No. 1 overall pick in this year’s PBA Rookie Draft.

Fernandez said Bolick can do it all on both ends and coaches in the PBA should be well aware of that by now.

“If the coaches just watch how he plays, he can play with the system, he can play without the system. I think he’s one of the best players who can play the one, two or three. He can play defense, he can score, can do everything,” said Fernandez.

“I’m hoping that Columbian will change their mind because you got Bolick, he will be the best point guard coming in this draft.”

The Columbian Dyip own the rights to the first overall pick and reportedly have their eyes on Lyceum’s CJ Perez with Bolick and Ray Parks also among the top prospects.

“He (Bolick) came from being benched or a benchwarmer in the other school and he came to San Beda and brought more championships to San Beda. He deserves to be No. 1,” he said. “No offense to CJ. I do love him, I do believe in his game but this guy (Bolick) deserves the No. 1 pick.”

The 23-year-old Bolick had another stellar NCAA season where he made the Mythical Team and helped the Red Lions win their third title in a row after sweeping the Pirates on Monday night.

The 6-foot-1 Bolick wrapped up his collegiate career averaging 8 points and 10.5 assists in the finals.

Fernandez also vouched for his other graduating star in Javee Mocon, who is also expected to turn pro this year.

“I’m hoping that the coaches can see Javee not only as a four-man but a three-man as well. We tried really to move Javee to the three-man because that’s his size in the PBA but during our season, he’s very consistent as our four-man so I think we just maximized the things he’s been giving us,” Fernandez said of Mocon, who was named Finals MVP.

“Hopefully, No. 4 pick and up Im sure he will be in the first round. He deserves to be in the first round. But whatever happens I wish them all the best.”
