CJ Cansino, who is tipped to win Rookie of the Year in the UAAP Season 81 men’s basketball tournament, will be sidelined for at least six months due to an ACL injury, as per The Varsitarian.

The 19-year-old Cansino told The Varsitarian, the official student publication of UST that he hopes be back better than before in time for the next season of the UAAP.

Cansino seems to be taking the setback in stride.  ”

The knee injury was the only thing that could stop Cansino, who was a major reason for the Growling Tigers’ return to relevancy after coming off a horrible year where they finished with a 1-13 record.

Cansino averaged a double-double with 12.8 points and 10.3 rebounds in his first year.

Though, the Tigers fell short of making the Final Four, they still had a promising season in Aldin Ayo’s first year in España.

UST (5-8) ends its season against defending champion Ateneo.
