Former Columbian head coach Chris Gavina is back in the PBA after getting hired as an assistant coach of Rain or Shine for the upcoming season.

Gavina made his name as the coach to have steered then-Kia to its first and only playoff appearance in the 2016 Governors’ Cup after the team finished with a 6-5 record with import James White leading the way.

As per the PBA’s official website, Gavina met with rain or Shine team governor Mamerto Mondragon to formalize his inclusion to Caloy Garcia’s coaching staff ahead of the Elasto Painters’ preparation for the 2019 season.

Gavina expressed his gratitude to Garcia, Rain or Shine owners Raymond Yu and Terry Que, and Mondragon.

“I am extremely honored grateful for the trust from coach Caloy Garcia, boss Raymond, boss Terry, and Atty. Mamerto for this opportunity and I’m looking forward to join the Rain or Shine team for the next season,” said Gavina.

The 39-year-old coach resigned from his post two games into the Philippine Cup.
