Petron stays undefeated; Generika triumphs

Ces Molina and Mika Reyes combined forces as Petron blasted Cignal, 25-22, 25-16, 25-19, Saturday night to remain spotless at the top of the Philippine Superliga All-Filipino Conference at Caloocan Sports Complex.

Molina scored 15 points, while Reyes added 11 as the Blaze Spikers have now strung up five straight wins and bolstered their title-retention bid.

Though the first set was close, it was clear that Petron was head and shoulders above Cignal, whose revamped lineup still has to achieve the right blend.

The HD Spikers saw their two-game winning run cut short as they fell to 3-3.

The Blaze Spikers came up with more points off the attack than the HD Spikers, 45-31, and also put up a formidable presence by the net by scoring nine kill blocks all in all.

Earlier, Generika-Ayala extended its winning streak to three, turning back Smart, 25-19, 25-12, 25-15.

Open hitter Patty Orendain and libero Kath Arado towed the Lifesavers to a 3-3 record, with Orendain scoring 18 points and Arado collecting 17 excellent digs to help Generika-Ayala deal the Giga Hitters their third defeat in five games.

The Lifesavers outgunned the Giga Hitters with 38 attacks against 19 by the losing club.
