Cebu’s Go closes in on Suba after dominant 3rd leg
Cebu prodigy William Riley Go ruled the final race and came away with the Mini ROK class’ best points haul in the third leg of the 2018 Asian Karting Open Championships (Akoc) at Clark International Speedway in Pampanga recently.
The 10-year-old Go conceded all three 7-lap qualifying heats to compatriots Joharry Suba and Zachary David but scored the victory from pole spot in the point-rich final race with a time of 14 minutes and 48.579 seconds, just 0.214 seconds clear of Suba.
Singapore’s Nicole Muzzayin flashed home third in 14:41.919 followed by Miguel Angeles in 14:15.253, with Simon Zhang completing the podium finishers in 14:50.573 in the races sponsored by San Miguel Corp. and Petron.
Article continues after this advertisementStill pumped up by his triumph in the season closer of the Cadet X30 Southeast Asian Series in Pattaya, Thailand, in September, Go of Piers Sexton Racing Team pooled 65 points and moved closer to the front-running Suba in the Akoc overall tally with 166 points.
Suba topped the second and third qualifying heats around the 13-turn 1.2-kilometer circuit to boost his series total to 182 points.
