Lifesavers sustain impressive run

Generika-Ayala closed out the first round on a high note after hammering Cocolife, 26-24, 20-25, 25-17, 25-19, in the Philippine Superliga All-Filipino Conference on Thursday at Filoil Flying V Centre.

Head coach Sherwin Meneses missed the action, but it didn’t matter as the Lifesavers unleashed their balanced attack to cruise to a fourth straight win.

F2 Logistics also took a winning feeling into the second round after a dominant 25-11, 25-22, 25-17 dismantling of Smart in the second game.

Majoy Baron had 11 points off attacks, two blocks and two aces while Kim Fajardo chalked up 29 excellent sets laced with seven hits for the Cargo Movers, who improved to 5-2.

Generika-Ayala forged a tie with idle Cignal in fourth spot at 4-3.

Patty Orendain led scoring with 22 points while Fiola Ceballos came up with a brilliant all-around effort of 20 points, 13 digs and 13 excellent receptions for the Lifesavers, who gained confidence after bringing down powerhouse F2 in four sets two weeks ago.

Angeli Araneta and Ria Meneses contributed 18 and 10 points, respectively, with libero Kath Arado registering 31 digs.
