Dodie Boy Jr. faces Thai

MANILA, Philippines — Dodie Boy Peñalosa Jr. battles Super James Singmanasak of Thailand in a 10-round super bantamweight bout tonight at the Recom Dome in Caloocan City hoping to move closer to a possible world title bout.

Peñalosa belongs to a rich boxing lineage. He is the son of two-time world champion Dodie Boy Sr. and the nephew of Filipino great Gerry Peñalosa. He will put his immaculate 7-0 slate on the line against his Thai foe.

Peñalosa came in at 124 pounds during the weigh-in at the historic Bonifacio Monument while Singmanasak tipped the scales at 122.

An amateur standout, Dodie Boy is eyeing a sensational showing against the touted Thai, who has promised to shock the crowd come fight night.

“I did not come here to lose,” said Singmanasak.
