Gilas Pilipinas’ final 12-man lineup against Kazakhstan won’t be announced until later tonight but national team coach Yeng Guiao is almost sure of one thing as to who will be the squad’s naturalized player.
Guiao said there is already a “90 percent” chance that crack point guard Stanley Pringle will be the Philippines’ naturalized player against the Kazakhs on Friday night while versatile big man Christian Standhardinger will play in the duel against the bigger Iranians on Monday.
“It’s 90 percent [sure], not unless there’s going to be changes after our meeting, but more or less, Stanley will play against Kazakhstan, Christian against Iran,” said Guiao.
Both games will be played at Mall of Asia Arena.
Standhardinger and Pringle played together for the Philippine team three months ago in the Asian Games where Gilas blew out Kazakhstan, 96-59.
Pringle led the Philippines in the rout with 18 points while Standhardinger added 15 points.
