Singapore meet jumpstarts grapplers prep

The Philippine wrestling team begins its yearlong preparation with the end goal of winning more gold medals in the 2019 Southeast Asian Games in the country.

Two-time gold medalist Margarito Angana Jr. and veterans Jhonny Morte and Alvin Lobreguito will banner the Go For Gold-backed squad in the Jagsport Wrestling Championship in Singapore on Dec. 6 to 9.

Angana will see action in the men’s 61-kilogram freestyle senior event while Lobreguito and Morte are entered in the 57 kg and 65 kg divisions.

Also vying are Royce Tiu (86 kg), Ronil Tubog (61 kg), Jonathan Maquilan (65 kg) and cadet division entry Cadel Hualda (80 kg).

“Our wrestlers are continuously improving to prove we are one of the best in Asia,” said Go For Gold’s Jeremy Go.
