Motolite-Ateneo eyes finals upset vs Creamline

Motolite-Ateneo knows it is the decided underdog in the Premier Volleyball League Open Conference finals, but vowed to give it all against Creamline when the title series kicks off on Wednesday at Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan.

Coach Oliver Almadro and key player Bea De Leon are both looking forward to “having fun” in the title series, where they weren’t supposed to be playing in, yet somehow managed to gatecrash nevertheless after ousting Banko-Perlas in their semifinals series.

“The finals series will be tough for us. We’re a collegiate team just learning going to the UAAP (season),” said Almadro in the Philippine Sportswriters Association (PSA) Forum at Tapa King Restaurant in Farmer’s Plaza.

Creamline boasts a veteran squad oozing with talent led by former Ateneo stalwarts Alyssa Valdez and Jia Morado.

However, De Leon said the Lady Eagles cannot wait to strut their wares: “We’re very eager to play and prove to ourselves na kaya talaga namin.”

Aside from De Leon, the likes of rookie Vanessa Gangler will be there to provide firepower for Motolite-Ateneo.
