MANILA, Philippines–Bright Akhuetie capped off his stellar first year in the UAAP by capturing the MVP plum of Season 81.
University of the Philippines’ center, who officially received the award on Wednesday before Game 2 of the UAAP Finals, amassed 82.5 statistical points, edging Ateneo’s Angelo Kouame, who won Rookie of the Yea with 76.2143 SPs.
Kouame, despite getting second-most SPs, did not make it to the Mythical Team because of the UAAP’s ruling that only one foreign player will be in that five-man lineup.
University of the East’s Alvin Pasaol finished with 74.5714 SPs and De La Salle’s Justine Baltazar accumulated 61.2857 SPs to make up the Mythical Team frontcourt.
Adamson University’s Jerrick Ahanmisi had 58.3846 SPs while UP’s Juan Gomez De Liaño finished with 63.8571 SPs to make up the backcourt.
In the distaff side, University of Santo Tomas’ Malu Irebu took home the MVP with 80.5714 SPs.
National University’s Jack Daniel Animam, who won the Finals MVP, finished second in the season MVP race with 79.7143 SPs to koin Irebu in the forward spots of the women’s Mythical Team.
Far Eastern University’s Clare Castro, whose team lost to NU 67-61 in Game 2 of the Finals, was the Mythical Team’s center with 71.3571 SPs.
UST’s Misaela Larosa had 76.0769 SPs while Adamson’s Nathalie Prado amassed 74.2857 SPs for the guard spots.
Growling Tigress youngster Reynalyn Ferrer was named Rookie of the Year after finishing with 48.9286 SPs.
