MANILA, Philippines—Creamline brandished its mettle and swept Ateneo-Motolite, 25-20, 25-20, 25-15, in the finals of the Premier Volleyball League Open Conference Saturday at Batangas Coliseum.
The Cool Smashers, who are the reigning Reinforced Conference champions, secured their first title in the Open Conference.
Alyssa Valdez led all scorers with 13 points for the Cool Smashers while Michele Gumabao and Risa Sato added 12 and 10 points, respectively, in their final game under head coach Tai Bundit, who will go back to Thailand on Dec. 14 to be with his family.
“I think we played today to win and for coach Tai, he deserves a great exit,” said captain Valdez. “He deserves nothing but the best, to always win games, so that’s what we thought before we entered.”
“It’s really for coach Tai and we want to give this championship to him.”
Creamline had the Lady Eagles on the ropes throughout the whole match and it registered a 49-28 advantage in spikes and also a 6-3 edge in service aces.
Bea De Leon and Kat Tolentino had 10 points apiece for the Lady Eagles.
