Cignal HD overcame a first set jolt to defeat Foton, 26-28, 25-19, 25-19, 25-18, on Saturday night and barge into the semifinals of the Philippine Superliga All-Filipino Conference at FilOil Flying V Centre.
The win allowed Cignal entry into the best-of-three semis against unbeaten Petron, which is gunning for a repeat of its 2015 feat where it swept its way to the title.
Propelled by Rachel Anne Daquis and Mylene Paat, the HD Spikers shrugged off a sluggish opening frame that saw them throw away two set points.
Daquis unloaded 23 points, while Paat added 22 for the HD Spikers.
Behind Daquis and Paat, Cignal came up strong in the successive sets, exposing the Tornadoes’ spotty plays en route to the victory.
