UST sets up finals meet vs UP in PSL Collegiate Grand Slam

University of Santo Tomas’ big three of Eya Laure, Milena Alessandrini and Tin Francisco proved too much for University of the East in a 27-25, 19-25, 25-14, 25-20 win Tuesday in the Philippine Superliga Collegiate Grand Slam at Muntinlupa Sports Center.

The three combined for 42 points led by Laure’s 15 while Francisco added 14 and Alessandrini had 13 on top of 13 digs to propel the Golden Tigresses to the finals.

Despite advancing to the championship round, UST coach Kungfu Reyes said his team can still play much better.

“Our offensive transition still needs to improve. We had a lot of errors that we could have converted. We still have to polish our game,” said Reyes, whose squad committed 27 errors.

UST arranged a championship showdown with University of the Philippines on December 20 at Mall of Asia Arena.

Judith Abil scored 15 for the Lady Warriors, who fell to 1-3.
