NU puts PH in Asean finale

Bannered by reigning UAAP champion National U, the Philippines made quick work of Indonesia, 25-14, 25-23, 25-13, on Thursday to reach the finals of the 19th Asean University Games volleyball tournament in Naypyitaw, Myanmar. The Filipinos thus surpassed their bronze medal finish in the same tournament two years ago in Singapore. The Filipinos forged a title duel with defending champion Thailand, which hammered out a 25-19, 25-20, 25-17 victory over Myanmar in the other semifinal duel. The Philippines-Thailand tiff is set Friday. NU remains unbeaten in the tournament, a run highlighted by a 30-28, 25-23, 25-19 win over the Thais in their match last Sunday. —CEDELF P. TUPAS
