It’s a good year to be under the San Miguel Corporation umbrella.

Better yet, it was a historical season for SMC teams after pulling off a Grand Slam of sorts in the PBA with San Miguel Beer, Barangay Ginebra and Magnolia each celebrating a championship in three separate conferences.

Believe it or not, it marked only the first time in the rich history of the PBA that the three SMC squads completed a season sweep, according to league head statistician Fidel Mangonon.

Magnolia punctuated SMC’s dominance after it dismantled Alaska in Game 6 of the 2018 PBA Governors’ Cup Finals last week while also ending the franchise’s four-year title drought.

The Hotshots’ championship run was also the ninth time in 10 conferences that an SMC team won the crown.

What makes SMC’s dominance more impressive is that it doesn’t look like it’s going to end soon with the 2019 Philippine Cup to come off wraps less than a month from now.
