Fresh from a successful team-up in the National Doubles, Bianca Pagdanganan and Jed Dy seek individual honors this time as they lead the crack international field in the Philippine Amateur Open Golf Championship starting Thursday at Riviera’s Langer course in Cavite.

While Pagdanganan, 21, looms as one of the players to watch in the ladies’ division of the 72-hole stroke play championship, the 15-year-old Dy faces tall odds in the men’s side which also features Aidric Chan, Carl Corpus, Weiwei Gao, Miguel Ilas, Peter Po, Paolo Wong and Kristoffer Arevalo.

The Koreans dominated last year’s staging.

Paralympic committee gets boost with new backer

The National Paralympic Committee recently entered into an agreement with Citi Philippines as official partners through 2020 as part of a deal with the International Paralympic Committee (IPC).

The global agreement supports 18 national paralympic committees preparing for various world and regional championships and the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games.

“Our goal is to make a difference as a responsible corporate citizen by promoting inclusiveness and equality for all,” said Citi Philippines’ Aftab Ahmed during the signing ceremony with NPC president Michael Barredo held at Citi Plaza in Taguig.
