MANILA, Philippines—LA Tenorio is one of the best point guards in the PBA and at 34-years-old is still far away from retirement.
Ginebra’s floor general averaged 12.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 4.6 assists in the past season en route to the Commissioner’s Cup title, proving that he still has a lot left in the tank.
Although he’s not yet thinking of an impending retirement, Tenorio wants to end his playing days with the franchise that gave three of his four career titles.
“That’s what I want,” said Tenorio of a potential retirement with Ginebra during the PBA Media Day Thursday at Solaire Resort and Casino. “Who wouldn’t want to retire under Ginebra?”
“Hopefully this would be my last team before I retire. But I’m not yet thinking of retiring because it’s still far away and of course I’m still young.”
Tenorio has played with San Miguel in his first two years in the league before he got traded to Alaska where he won the 2010 Fiesta Cup and became the co-Finals MVP with Cyrus Baguio against his former team.
It was Ginebra, however, that Tenorio truly became a household name as he also became a national team staple while wearing the Gin Kings’ colors.
