Alkhaldi eyes gold this time
There’s something noticeably missing in Jasmine Alkhaldi’s medal collection from past Southeast Asian Games.
And after amassing one silver and 11 bronze medals for the past three editions of the Games, the two-time Olympian thinks that the circumstances are ripe for her to finally nail that coveted gold.
“I’m hoping that this will be my time,” said Alkhaldi before officially kicking off her buildup for the 11-nation meet that Clark, Subic and Manila are hosting from Nov. 30 to Dec. 11.
Article continues after this advertisementThe 25-year-old will fly to Europe within the week and will stay there for a month for a two-leg training.
Alkhaldi actually won a gold medal in her SEA Games debut in 2013, but her victory in the women’s 100m freestyle was recalled after organizers ruled that there was a false start. Alkhaldi settled for a bronze in the re-swim.
