MANILA, Philippines—A charity organization in Cebu received a massive boost in support from Chooks-to-Go and Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas.
The Sister of Mary School Boystown and Girlstown received a monthly P100,000 grant from Chooks-to-Go while also getting to experience three Fiba records during the Chooks-SBP 3X3 Basketball Festival.
SBP and Chooks made such an impact to the school that the officials decided to be host future 3×3 tournaments.
“If it is really for the benefit of our students, why not?” said Girlstown’s Sister Eva Aringo, SM. “Our students are happy, and if our students learn many things from these kinds of events, why not continue? Our desire is to always make our students happy and satisfied.”
Boystown and Girlstown were the hosts of the Chooks-SBP 3X3 Basketball Festival that saw 3,036 Fiba-sanctioned kids to play across 100 basketball courts.
The festival allowed the SBP to accumulate points needed to get a slot in Fiba-sanctioned tournaments.
Aringo added that the event is in line with the vision of the founder of The Sister of Mary School Father Aloysius Philip Schwartz.
“The wish of our founding father is for the students to always be active,” said Aringo in Filipino. “In fact, our father founder is also athletic, so he is also super active. He was very busy, but also active in sports.”
“Our students, not only academically, but we want to develop them holistically so they need to be active every now and then. This is also for their team-building allowing them to play with each other and have fun.”
