ONE Championship kicked off what promises to be its biggest year yet with the Eternal Glory card on Saturday night here.
The preliminary bouts didn’t disappoint with explosive and early finishes.
South Korea’s Won Il Kwon pulled off an opening-round stoppage of Alex Engelen, who was floored by a crisp straight before getting pummeled with more punches that prompted the referee to stop the fight.
The quickest knockout of the night so far belonged to China’s Niu Kang Kang.
Niu Kang knocked Indonesian bet Sunoto out cold with a crushing head kick just 31 seconds into their catchweight bout.
Niu stunned the hometown crowd as Sunoto had to stretchered off.
So far, only one bout has gone the distance with Koji Ando of Japan edging Rasul Yakhyaev of Japan by split decision in a lightweight contest.
In the curtain raiser, Indonesian fighters Oscar Yaqut stopped Andreas Satyawan in the second round of their featherweight bout.
Yaqut (4-0) got into a full mount and clobbered the debuting Satyawan, who resorted to tapping out at the 2:36 mark.
In another all-Indonesian affair, Aziz Calim submits stablemate Adi Paryanto with a rear-naked choke in the opening round of their strawweight bout.
