JAKARTA, Indonesia—Filipino strawweight Robin Catalan manhandled hometown bet Stefer Rahardian in ONE: Eternal Glory Saturday night at Istora Senayan here.
Catalan was in total control from the opening bell en route to a clear-cut unanimous decision win to silence the crowd.
The 28-year-old Catalan was the much superior striker but he also beat Rahardian in his own game on the mat.
Rahardian attempted several takedowns early but to no avail while Catalan easily took him down in the second and third rounds.
Catalan redeemed himself from a submission loss to Japan’s Hayato Suzuki three months ago.
Rahardian dropped to 0-2 against the Catalan brothers after also bowing to the older Rene via unanimous decision last July.
Earlier, Brazilian jiu-jitsu specialist Bruno Pucci wisely took the fight to the ground early to submit the heavy-handed Japanese Kotetsu Boku in the first round of their featherweight fight.
