MANILA, Philippines—The Philippines went 0-2 in the undercard of Manny Pacquiao’s title defense against Adrien Broner Sunday (Manila time) at MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Jayar Inson, who hails from Davao city, lost via split decision to American Jonathan Steele in their eight-round welterweight contest.
Steele (9-2-1) bounced back from his loss to Sanjarbek Rakhmanov on December 7, 2018 while Inson (18-2) dropped his first fight since losing to Thulani Mbenge in June 10, 2017.
Inson’s loss saw his five-fight winning streak snapped and it also followed up the Rey Perez’ defeat to George Kambosos Jr. earlier in the card.
Perez (24-11) lost via unanimous decision to Kambosos (16-0), who is Pacquiao’s sparring partner for the fight against Lucas Matthysse.
Earlier, Rey Perez fell to Manny Pacquiao’s sparring partner George Kambosos Jr.
