Steph Curry blames LA Kings for epic ‘Shaqtin’ slip in Warriors win

MANILA, Philippines—There’s no doubt that Steph Curry is on an absolute tear right now in the NBA putting up a near 30-5-5 line every night while shooting more than five three-pointers a game.
But there are still times when the two-time MVP has some slip ups—literally.
It could’ve been a perfect sequence for Curry in the third quarter of Golden State’s game against the Los Angeles Lakers at Staples Center nonetheless when he picked off Kyle Kuzma’s pass to make a beeline to the basket.

Curry, who’s not known for his leaping ability, was all alone in the Warriors’ end of the floor and he took the opportunity to go for a dunk but instead of going up slid down a couple of feet.
The three-time NBA champion, though, gave a perfectly logical explanation for his slip when he guested in The Late Late Show with James Corden.
“What happened was the LA Kings had a game before us and they must’ve not put the floor back on top of the ice all the way,” said Curry who’s averaging 29.3 points, 5.2 rebounds, 5.6 assists, and 5.3 triples a game.
Prior to the Warriors’ game against the Lakers, the Kings faced the St. Louis Blues in the NHL that was also played at Staples Center.
“In my head I knew I was about to do something crazy, a 360 dunk I’ve never done in my life but it just didn’t happen,” added Curry.
Andre Iguodala managed to recover the play that allowed Curry to shoot a consolation three-pointer but his attempt hit air as if adding insult to injury.
“I was a little dizzy,” said Curry of the missed shot.
The embarrassing episode landed of Shaqtin a Fool’s Twitter account with the corresponding caption of “SHAQTIN OF THE YEAR?!” with the emojis for shocked and a laughing cry.
Before he talked to Corden, though, Curry also gave an explanation after the game the Warriors easily won 130-111.
“I was like a kid walking in the candy store with the whole half-court open. I was going to try something really nice I’ve never tried before. The Lord wouldn’t let me do it,” said Curry as per Sports Illustrated’s Ben Golliver.
Curry finished with 11 points and 12 assists for his troubles with Splash Brother Klay Thompson taking care of the scoring load with 44 points after hitting 10 threes.
