Perpetual Help eyes 2-division volley romp
MANILA, Philippines—Perpetual Help shoots for a two-division title sweep of the 87th National Collegiate Athletic Association volleyball tournament Monday at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.
The Lady Altas go for the clincher against the Lady Knights of Letran at 3:30 p.m. hoping to put up a strong performance after getting pushed to the limit in Game 1.
The Altas try to set up the double-kill when they face the San Beda Lions in the 2 p.m. match.
Unlike their female counterparts, who needed five sets to slip past the Lady Knights, the Altas had an easier time disposing of the Lions, 28-26, 25-22, 25-22, in their initial duel.
The Lady Altas took Game 1, 25-16, 23-25, 25-27, 25-20, 15-10, behind the heroics of Sandra delos Santos.
And coach Mike Rafael said his team is bent on finishing off the Lady Knights today.
“We want to finish the series in Game 2,” said Rafael, whose team is also gunning for a perfect 14-0 season.

EAC grabbed the headstart with a 22-25, 25-19, 25-23, 25-23 win Friday.
Perpetual will also lean on Honey Royce Tubino and Norie Diaz who combined for 32 points in Game 1.
The Lady Knights are pinning their hopes on Manel Carolino and Sarah Espelita.
The Lady Altas, who came into the title series a clear favorite, nearly stumbled in the opener, yielding the next two sets after winning the first one. They trailed 5-12, in the fourth set, before Sandra delos Reyes led a blinding run to force a fifth set they won on a 15-10 score.
A win will give the Lady Altas their first-ever title in the league.
