Coming off the heels of a convincing victory, WBC Inter-Continental and WBA Asian lightweight Romero Duno is set to take his talents to the global stage.

The 23-year-old Duno is set to fight in the undercard of Saul “Canelo” Alvarez’ title bout against Daniel Jacobs in Las Vegas, Nevada.

“They told me that I’m going to fight on May 5 in Las Vegas,” Duno, a Cotabato native, told reporters in Filipino during the halftime break of PBA action on Wednesday night.

Although Duno, promoted by Golden Boy Promotions, said his opponent is yet unnamed.

“They just told me it’s going to be a big fight,” he said. “So as soon as I return to General Santos, I’m quickly getting back on training.”

The bout is set on May 4 at the T-Mobile Arena in Nevada, at the eve of the Cinco de Mayo festivities. There, Alvarez takes top-billing, and will be taking on Daniel Jacobs.

Duno, who now flaunts a 19-1-0 pro record, looks to carry the momentum off his second-round knockout win over Kuldeep Dhanda last Feb. 9 at Midas Hotel in Manila.

Meanwhile, Interim WBA World Bantamweight Champion Reymart Gaballo has earned himself the right to take on either Nonito Donaire or Naoya Inoue later this year, according to Sanman Promotions CEO JC Manangquil.

“Reymart’s fight is mandatory [for the division],” Mangquil added.

“I’m just waiting on who’s next for me,” said Gaballo, who recently ascended to contender status following his conquest of Japanese prospect Yuya Nakamura.

Donaire and Inoue both hold a WBA Bantamweight strap which complicates Gaballo’s next assignment.

“I’m just going to continue working and praying as I wait. I’ll do my best whatever happens,” he said.

Dave Apolinario, the WBC Asia Flyweight Youth Champion and also of Sanman Promotions, is also set to defend his newly-earned WBC Asia Flyweight Youth Champion belt this year.
